Do you ever feel like you are taking crazy pills?

One of my dearest friends used to say, "Am I taking crazy pills or something?" When overly dumbfounded, wierd things were happening. It seems like lately I am the one taking crazy pills. Everything around me is wierd. I am going N-U-T-S!!!!!

The big girl bed.

About a month ago we put together Gia's "Big Girl Bed" and she has been sleeping in it. Given our remarkable issues with sleep, we have found that this is an improvement. The rules are as follows:

1) No crying.
2) When the sunshine light comes on, you can come to Mommy and Daddy's room.

She follows rule number two much better than number one. But all the same, she stays in her room all night which is a victory as far as we are concerned.

For the last week Ralph has been telling Gia when she comes to our room to bring a diaper with her (yes, the potty training transition has been more difficult than the big girl bed) otherwise one of us is forced across the house to retrieve a diaper to change our darlings wet bottom. Gia has not found the desire to grab such a diaper.

Well this morning...she brought a diaper with her.....and Ralph is out of town on business. Go figure. Isn't that just how kiddos work?

(P.S.: I will post pictures of her room when we finish decorating it....right now we are mid decoration and it looks a little sketchy.)

To the left, to the left.

About a week ago, we went to see Beyonce in concert. While I honestly don't know if I had heard a single one of her songs prior to the concert. She is a remarkable performer and from Houston...it was loads of fun and I wouldn't mind seeing her in the future!

I have fostered a polish diva.

About three months ago I started painting Gia's fingernails. She loves it. Well, this weekend I got a wild hair and painted my nails red....which I never do. I broke down and painted Miss G's red as well...which goes against every fiber of my being.

Well ladies, Gia LOVES her some red polish. She keeps going up to people showing them her polish. I even caught her admiring her hands prior to taking her nap.

What am I going to do?

4th of July festivities.

For whatever reason, I have a really hard time formatting my pictures on blogger. I can't ever get them to go in the order that I would like them to and then I can not manipulate them once they are up...so if anyone has a suggestion, please let me know.
Our 4th of July was very low key. We stayed home and went to a BBQ at the club and then ventured out for dinner prior to Fireworks. The places we wanted to patron, were closed (of course, we did not call before leaving) and ended up driving around to long...we watched some of the fireworks from the Sonic parking lot while we had our greasy dinner. We then went closer to where the fairgrounds where the fireworks were being launched.

Gia LOVED the fireworks and we enjoyed our low key weekend.

Run for your life...from the bear.

The morning that we were setting out to climb half dome (19 miles total, up to 9,000 feet) we (let's be honest, Felicia and I were doing most of it, but the guys were around) were making sandwiches and packing our fuel for the LONG and grueling hike.

Gia was in Judy and Gary's cabin blissfully playing away. A woman from another camping area comes over and casually says, "I just wanted to let you know that there is a bear coming this direction."

Possibly because she was so calm. Possibly because I had no idea what to do. Possibly because I was the only one that was listening (Felicia had stepped into the tent for a moment). I just began scrambling. Felicia comes out of the cabin and asks whats going on (as I am telling Steve and Jager that I don't think it is a good idea to put the food IN the cabin) and she says, "Allison, scream"

So I did. The poor bear did not know what he had coming. Despite ALL of my cheer training I left my from the gut, deep yell go to the wayside and I let out a shrill. A shrill that was beyond deafening.

It is 5:30am.

EVERYONE comes barreling from there slumber. Loads of people we don't know. RT comes out of our tent and the bear grabs his CamelBack. Why...who knows, mine was right next to it.

My husband goes chasing after his CamelBack. And I go chasing after my husband. Yelling, "You are not chasing your stupid backpack are you!?!?!?!?"

He got his backpack back. Trail mix gone. Cytomax gone. Two Clif Bars gone. Wallet in tact. Mouth piece broken.

We left on our hike. They say that is is good luck when you see a bear.

One things for certain, it makes for a story that is loads of fun to tell.
