Run for your life...from the bear.

The morning that we were setting out to climb half dome (19 miles total, up to 9,000 feet) we (let's be honest, Felicia and I were doing most of it, but the guys were around) were making sandwiches and packing our fuel for the LONG and grueling hike.

Gia was in Judy and Gary's cabin blissfully playing away. A woman from another camping area comes over and casually says, "I just wanted to let you know that there is a bear coming this direction."

Possibly because she was so calm. Possibly because I had no idea what to do. Possibly because I was the only one that was listening (Felicia had stepped into the tent for a moment). I just began scrambling. Felicia comes out of the cabin and asks whats going on (as I am telling Steve and Jager that I don't think it is a good idea to put the food IN the cabin) and she says, "Allison, scream"

So I did. The poor bear did not know what he had coming. Despite ALL of my cheer training I left my from the gut, deep yell go to the wayside and I let out a shrill. A shrill that was beyond deafening.

It is 5:30am.

EVERYONE comes barreling from there slumber. Loads of people we don't know. RT comes out of our tent and the bear grabs his CamelBack. Why...who knows, mine was right next to it.

My husband goes chasing after his CamelBack. And I go chasing after my husband. Yelling, "You are not chasing your stupid backpack are you!?!?!?!?"

He got his backpack back. Trail mix gone. Cytomax gone. Two Clif Bars gone. Wallet in tact. Mouth piece broken.

We left on our hike. They say that is is good luck when you see a bear.

One things for certain, it makes for a story that is loads of fun to tell.

That's crazy! I'm glad everything was okay. Except for the food.
